Surviving Irene

Irene hit us at about 10 am on Saturday  We lost power around 9:30 and started to really hunker down for the storm.

Moving food into the cooler was imperative and we needed a huge cooler so my fiance needed to go to the shed and grab it... not sure the umbrella really helped.

 I learned a lot of new games... Stratego and Cribbage were the main ones...

Found this mini hurricane lamp at a shop earlier in the day for 2 bucks... SCORE 

We were able to cook on the outside propane fire... it was nice because it was covered.  

During one lull of the storm we attempted to cook steaks that were in the fridge... we were both soaked as the lull ended very quickly.  

All in all we survived relatively unscathed. 

 I have a lot of yard waste (an acre worth) to pick up in the next couple of days and we lost all our food because we were out of power for 3 days.... hope everyone else was safe as well!
